Bookshelf Styling Inspo & Tips
- Start with a clean slate. Remove everything from your shelves, it is always easier to start with an empty space.
- Use what you love. Utilize the items that have meaning to you like family heirlooms, mementos from your travels, and family photos.
- Place large items first and then continue with smaller items.
- Use objects in a variety of sizes and textures.
- Group items in 2’s or 3’s. Layer items together for a more interesting look.
- Use books horizontally and vertically. Large coffee table books displayed horizontally make an excellent base for layering decorative objects.
- If you don’t like the color of the spine of your books, flip them and display them with the page side forward. You can see a few examples of this in the pictures above.
- Add natural elements in the form of greenery to bring life to your shelves.
- Pick a color palette and have that color story run throughout.
- Don’t over-accessorize. Leave white space for the eye to rest.
Coffee Table Styling Inspo & Tips
- Vary the height and scale of your items for a more interesting look.
- Display coffee table books on topics you enjoy.
- Use trays to corral and group items.
- Use fresh flowers and/or plants to add color and a natural element.
- If you collect something, display your collection in one spot for a more significant impact.
- Don’t over-accessorize. Leave space on the table to place a drink or put your feet up.
